Artist's Statment
My artistic practice focuses on images inspired by my life, developed to communicate and share my perspective with others. Primarily creating figurative work, common themes of interest include self-portraiture, childhood memories, figures in motion, and natural landscapes.
My approach to the subjects and the mediums I work within is continually shifting. Primarily a drawer, I also work with printmaking and painting; my habit of constantly working with different materials reflects my interest in exploring different ways of viewing the world, and presenting my individual perspective at a particular moment in time. I aim to capture and enhance specific characteristics in each of my subjects, which can be emphasized through the visual characteristics of the medium and techniques used.
I have an interest in thoroughly investigating the characteristics that captivate me in each subject, which I wish to enhance and record by depicting them in art. Generally working on a small scale, I value working methodically, creating an intimate creative experience for myself and the viewer through proximity with these personal images.
