Art allows us to connect with others by visually sharing our personal stories. We considered how using symbolic imagery to paint a memory allows artists to share about themselves, and leave room for viewers to connect with and interpret the painting based on their own experiences. Students created a symbolic representation of a personal narrative, choosing objects or animals to represent different concepts. We worked with acrylic paint throughout the project to mix colors of their choice and explore various techniques for paint application at each stage of the process.
